“From Farm to table” boosting Sipi falls coffee tour experiences.
Mount Elgon towers serenely over small coffee farms sprinkled along its slopes. For centuries, the mineral-rich soil of Africa’s oldest volcano has nourished these small farms, each inherited, owned and maintained by a single family. As market forces grew insistently more focussed on scale and price, small coffee growers found it difficult to remain in business while maintaining their eco-friendly agricultural practices. They needed a solution that would preserve their land and way of life while improving their crop. With this aim, Adventure Afrika (adventure-afrika.com) looks at empowering these grassroot communities through its food forests Africa Movement and boosting their ecotourism activities in the region through adventure.
